For years now the Canadian metal band Into Eternity has been making a name for themselves for combining both elements of death and progressive metal. This should continue with their fifth release The Incurable Tragedy. This is a concept album about a man being diagnosed with a terminal (cancer) disease, which is a very hard topic to touch, since so many people know loved ones that have/had cancer, but Into Eternity try hard to do a good job on this one.

Most the songs on the album are your typical Into Eternity style, instantly switching from death to progressive metal, and changing from death, to black, to clean vocals about 15 times a track. "Diagnosis Terminal" "Tides of Blood" and "Indignation" are the real stand out tracks, all with extremely catchy choruses, that will have you singing to yourself for hours. "A Black Light Ending" does a good job showing the bands heavy side, even though the song did does not stay heavy for the whole song. "The Incurable Tragedy I, II & III" gives the band a chance to put the ballad element into the album, that many people feel should be in their because of the concept, but musically come off more as space holders.

The band continues to offer excellent skill on this album with insane solos, mind blowing bass parts, intense drum parts and over the top vocals. The only problem is that there are times in the album that all these great parts to not seem to fit together, and if you want to enjoy the beauty of their song writing, you are probably going to have to read the lyrics for yourself.

Overall this album was really enjoyable. Into Eternity fans will play this album 100 times or more, and any fan of death or progressive will probably find this CD a great investment. However I do not see this album winning them the armies of fans that Buried in Oblivion won them.

All in all if you are a fan of Into Eternity or any other band that switches from heavy to clean(that would be way to long of a list to write out) check out this album.

ROCK ON!!!!
