"Love and Other Disasters" is a great batch of metal that your girlfriend will love.

Sonic Syndicate is a metal band from Sweden that has that heavy melodic sound that we have all come to expect from a Swedish band(Soilwork/In Flames), but they also have the American 'core sound too(Haste the Day/Killswitch Engage). They use the two frontmen style with one doing the growling and screaming, and the other doing the melodic singing parts. They are also known for having one of Revolvers "Hottest Chicks in Metal" in the band. (Karin Axelsson bass player)

"Love and Other Disasters" is the bands third full length album (second major label), and you can tell how they have grown just by listening to it, it is much more controlled than the others albums, and it is more melodic driven than the others as well. Most of the songs are about love and relationships, which are alien to most metal listeners (at least in their music).

As far as the production, songwriting and musicianship, let me just say this, they did everything they could to make this album as catchy as they can, and they succeeded. Everything about this album is meant to just slip into your brain and infect it, from the drumming, to the riffing, to the infectious vocal work.

Some of the top songs are; Encaged, Jack of Diamonds, Contradictions, and My Escape (and I like this song because it is a good song not just because my old band used to have a song by the same name).

All in all "Love and Other Disasters" is a great heavy/melodic scream/sing album that I would recommend for (I can not believe I am saying this, may the gods of metal forgive me) fans of Soilwork and Underoath.
